I know....I have been MIA from our blog. So much has been going on. Sam is offically a third grader. I don't know how that happened. The time goes so fast. He has had such a great summer. He went to his first overnight camp. Grant it, Jim was in the same area, just at the senior high camp. He must have been fine because he would not acknowledge Jim when they did see each other. Also, he did not tell anyone he had a sister. hmmm.......

Quinn is doing great. We did more tests on her digestive system last week. She has an infection in her tummy. She amazes me how brave she is.

We spent the 4th weekend at my Dad's. Quinn got to meet my side of the family. She had already met Dad and Sue as they came to our house.

Easter 2009

Quinn's first Easter was wonderful. We went to Auntie Liz and Uncle Rick's for the weekend. We had such a great time watching the kids. Sam stepped back and let Quinn get most of the eggs. Jim and Rick took her to Bass Pro Shop on Saturday. Of course my little girl gets her first Easter Bunny picture made at Bass Pro Shop complete with a camo hat that says "I may be little, but I hunt big." It isn't even pink camo! Again, so WT.

Nascar Widow

How did it happen? I am a Nascar widow twice a year. Jim is spending the weekend (Friday -Monday) at the track. So WT. So Sam, Quinn and I having a really good time. I did experience my first "how am I going to make it to all the activities?" yesterday. Q had swim lessons at 4:30 in Southlake. Sam had baseball at 5:30 in Hurst. It doesn't sound that bad until you factor in a 3 year old, rush hour and a 3 year old. We did make it to baseball - late - which I hate being...... Today was some errands, nap and baseball game. Tomorrow is Church (maybe), shopping and egg dying. Can't wait! I will get pictures.

We got the results back from Q's upper GI. The doctor did confirm the surgery she had in China. One mystery solved. With the findings of the GI we had to do more lab tests. All tests came back normal. We go back the first of May to see the GI doctor. Height and weight at the doctor on Monday. Girl has grown! She just got new shoes. 1 and 1/2 sizes bigger.

Sam's baseball team has won some and has lost some. Jim could give you the exact on win/lost. Me - not so much.... He had a good game tonight. They lost...... I think he is really ready for summer. In a way I am too.

Jim is offically working for himself! Yeah! Stephens/Dixon is really coming along. They have a lot of good things happening. He has started working from home. I expect supper cooked, laundry done and house cleaned. HA HA!

Have a great Palm Sunday (The Christian school is paying off - I asked Sam what happened on Palm Sunday - He said "Palm trees blew up?" We are so proud....)

It is hard to believe that it has been another month with Quinn. Where does the time go? It seems like she has been with us forever.

A couple of catch up items.

1. The bite count is 18 and holding. She has started to favor spitting. It is so ladylike - Not. Girl can spit for distance. Just ask Sam as it seems to always hits him.
2. Some may know Quinn is a Waiting Child (Special Needs). She had an enlarged colon with a surgery we were not able to get information on. We just knew she had a scar. The scar is about 5 inches long on her tummy. One piece swim suits are in her future. (According to Jim, they never were.) She also has multiple IV marks on her hands and feet. There does not seem to be a terrible problem, but there is a problem. Let's just say we are keeping Huggies in business. She had her first visit with the Gastro a couple of weeks ago. She is on an eight week cleanse. So far so good. No need to discuss further. Jim took her for an upper GI last week. The test took 4 hours. She did not want to drink the chalky stuff even if they said it tasted like oranges. Surprise here, she spit it...... They finally got the x-rays done. Amazing what a sheet, tape and a tube up the nose will do. We hoping the doctor can tell what surgery was done.
She is doing wonderful in daycare. It amazes me how well she adapts. She is so social. Her English is coming along. She is becoming a "Daddia" girl. She only wants Mommia if she is not feeling well, needs to go to the ladies, Sam is cuddling with me or Daddia is no were to be found.
Sam has started baseball. We were excited that he is on the same team he was on in the fall. The coach is really good with the kids. They have won their first two games. Go Storm!

Month 2 with Quinn

It is hard to believe it has been two months since we adopted Quinn. I have finally downloaded our pictures. Here are a few.

The first day of day school went well. Sam takes his lunch on Mondays. I had to make one for Quinn too. She did not understand that her lunch is provided. So off we went with a PB&J sandwich and apple in our Cathey Air backpack. She did cry ... a lot...... She was only there for 3 hours today and looked at me like I was crazy when I went to pick her up. I wish she spoke more English so she could tell me all about it. Oh well......I got the stories in Chinese. The excitement was enough.

Sam the big brother

It finally happened. This morning I came down stairs to find Sam had fixed breakfast for himself and Quinn. He actually gave her soy milk instead of regular milk. For that, I am thankful. As I got ready to take him to school, I found them watching Dora together. She was sitting in his lap! Trust me, I had to look twice.

Quinn starts day school on Monday as I return to work on 3/2. I have enjoyed my time at home. But I know that I am not the stay at home type. I wish I was - but I just am not. I really think Quinn is bonded with us. Sam was the last. She only has night terrors every once in awhile. In fact, they all but stopped when we got home from San Antonio. In San Antonio, she had at least two a night. I think she knows this is her home.

The next week and a half is filled with meeting more family and friends. Tomorrow Quinn gets to meet my good friend and co-worker Kathy. I can not wait for her to meet Quinn. Friday she will meet a bunch of friends in my pakeno group. On Saturday she is meeting her cousins Drew and Lainey. Lainey is about to turn four and is really excited about her cousin from China. My parents are coming next week. I can not wait to see them. I hope to have them be the secret readers at Sam's school. They were going to visit sooner, but their trip was postponed a couple of times.

Wrigley Buster Dixon

Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with the vet to put Wrigley the Basset Hound down. He has congested heart failure and can barely breath. This may be one of the hardest things I will do in my life so far. Jim and I adopted him right after we got married. He was 8 months old. That was 13 years ago. He decided on day one that I was his owner. When Sam was born, he would sleep under his crib to watch over him. He has always gone from our room to Sam's to make sure everyone was okay. Tonight he has been allowed to eat M&Ms. Molly the Basset Hound wanted some also, but she got treats instead. All in all, he has been a wonderful pet and friend. Bless him.
